Ecological, Organic Gardening

Organic gardening is the one that uses the means of the nature itself. It is the way for the respectful gardening with environment. The problems that have been caused by the abusive use of chemicals, and the bigger consciousness raising by the current society on ecological matters, has cause an increasing demand of organic gardening.

To meet the organic gardening parameters, the first step is to be conscious with ourselves. This gardening is going to provide benefits to us, and, furthermore, we make our contribution on the environment conservation.

So it is easy to understand what is necessary for being an organic gardener:

- Save natural resources: Don´t waste water
- Reuse garden residues
- Avoid the chemicals’ use. Search ecological options instead.
- Think how to favour our flora and fauna.

Garden Curb (WITH SOFT-DRINKS’ CANS)

In our current society any effort to achieve the Three  R´s; reduce, reuse and recycle is laudable. End even more in this context of crisis, where the domestic economies are trying to reduce the expense of money to reach  the end of the month.

In moments of crisis ingenuity must be increased in order to find new ideas permitting us to solve our necessities. And if we do with domestic and reused materials much better.

How to create a Road on the Garden?

Introduction:

In this work the customer demanded us a project to make nicer the way to the outside hanger: one simple design, functional and not so expensive.

We decided to build one paved road to the hanger, because in our climate zone, showers are abundant during all the year. Waterlogged soils were usual in the way to the hanger and many times it was necessary to wear rain boots, making this a bit uncomfortable.

The Topiary Art

Definition:
The topiary art is a gardening practice that consist on giving artistic forms to the plants by cutting with pruning scissors. We have nearly infinites options to give particular forms to plants.
The artistic pruning is as old as our civilization and goes back in time to the Romans’ time. The name comes from the Latin word topiaries  “gardener-ornamental landscape” creator of topia or “places”; a Greek word that the Romans applied too to interior sceneries painted at fresco.
Its origin is in roman gardening where roman villas owners used to walk through their gardens surrounded by sculpted figures in shrubs, and continued during the Italian Renaissance. In the XV century, Italy became the birthplace of the European Renaissance. His artists looked toward the past and inspire on the classic culture to develop their creations. The gardeners were not ignorant about this trend and, the tidy gardens with corridors and very pronounced figures, majestic arches and geometric volumes as never seen before, became fashionable again.

The Garden Drainage

Our gardens can present problems with the excess or the shortage of water. It depends on the place of our gardens, the rainfall and the climatic zone.

If we take advantage of our climate, on a damp zone we can turn our humid field on a marshy garden. If we are on a desert zone, we should work with drought-resistant plants.

If despite our climatic zone we want a different field plan of the garden, we should use a drainage system for humid fields or an irrigation system for desert fields.

"L" for Conifers

In this case I designed a clump for conifers, a kind of plants that I like so much because of the great variety of colors and textures they have. A wide range that allows you to play with a lot of different designs and to give free rein to our imagination and creativity.

I made the edge of the clump with railroad ties, which provides durability, resistance and needs little maintenance (sometimes the railroad ties must be spread with some kind of moisturizing oil)
